Curve Brings Onchain Liquidity Infrastructure to the Stellar Network in Its First Native Non-EVM Integration
Publishing date
Curve Finance, one of the leading DeFi protocols for stablecoin trading, has launched on the Stellar mainnet, marking its first native deployment outside the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ecosystem.
The initial release brings Curve’s audited StableSwap implementation to Stellar, enabling users to create pools permissionlessly, discover existing pools, swap assets and provide liquidity. StableSwap is designed for low-slippage trading between stablecoins pegged to the same currency and other closely correlated assets.
The deployment was built specifically for the Stellar network’s smart-contract environment, with support from the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF).
“At Curve, we started exploring possibilities of launching beyond EVM chains if there is demand. Stellar looks like a good fit: it's closer to the familiar EVM world than many other chains. And at the same time, the demand for Curve is there, and it comes from institutions. Excited to see where this integration goes!” said Michael Egorov, founder of Curve Finance.
The potential applications extend beyond standalone swaps. As liquidity develops and other applications integrate these pools, they can also provide trading venues for collateral liquidations and exits from positions in lending and other financial applications. This gives asset issuers a way to develop trading venues for supported assets on the Stellar network.
“Stablecoins and tokenized assets only deliver real value when people can move between them efficiently, and Curve’s arrival gives developers on the Stellar network’s proven infrastructure to build those markets. Having one of DeFi’s most trusted liquidity protocols choose the Stellar network for its first native deployment outside EVM shows that the network is the home for practical financial applications,” said Denelle Dixon, CEO and Executive Director of the Stellar Development Foundation.
Curve also plans to bring FXSwap to the Stellar network once its audit is complete. FXSwap is designed for efficient trading between assets whose relative prices change, including stablecoins pegged to different currencies. It concentrates liquidity around market prices, providing dedicated infrastructure for onchain currency conversion.
Curve’s integration with the Stellar network will give developers and asset issuers new ways to build onchain markets and bring more utility to stablecoins and tokenized assets. The interface is now available at stellar.curve.finance.
About the Stellar Network
The Stellar network is a decentralized, fast, and scalable blockchain built for financial products and services. It enables smart contracts and supports issuing, managing, and moving real-world regulated assets at institutional scale.
Assets can be fully decentralized or configured for KYC, clawbacks, and sanctions compliance. Franklin Templeton runs a tokenized money market fund on Stellar, and MoneyGram moves money across it daily.
Open means no vendor lock-in. Configurable means enterprise-ready. The Stellar network has been servicing payments and financial use cases since 2014.
