Happy New Year to our Stellar Community!
We finished 2020 off with incredible momentum, boosted by announcements like a new bank-issued euro stablecoin (EURB) from Bitbond and Bankhaus von der Heydt and an enterprise fund investment in Settle Network to support the world’s first stablecoin exchange. Despite the circumstances happening around us, 2020 turned out to be a landmark year for Stellar. We shared some of the highlights in the Story of 2020 and we’ll be sharing more of our Q4 and 2020 achievements in our webinar on January 20, 2021 — be sure to REGISTER HERE.
And one week into 2021, we’ve hit the ground running with announcements like a partnership with the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation to support their work on digital assets, a new Vice President of Engineering at SDF (Welcome, Karen Chang!), and our filing a comment letter to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
I’m beyond optimistic about what this year holds for the Stellar Development Foundation and the Stellar network. We’re ready to work!

Join us on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 9:00am PT for a presentation of the Stellar Development Foundation’s Q4 and 2020 year in review.
2020 was a landmark year for SDF and Stellar. We closed out 2020 with a stronger, more active network and ecosystem and firmly positioned to drive growth in 2021.
SDF was joined by countless organizations throughout our industry voicing their concern over the far-reaching consequences of this proposal on blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystems. Despite the unusually short comment period that breaks with the standards and practices designed for transparent policy and rulemaking, SDF has worked tirelessly over the last two weeks to formally share our deep concerns over the impact this rule would have if implemented.
Under the Memorandum, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and SDF will work to develop a modern virtual asset market infrastructure and enhance Ukraine's status as an innovative digital country in the financial market in Eastern Europe.
The investment of up to $3 million, paid in lumens, will help bolster Settle’s current suite of payment tools centered around stablecoins: fiat-to-crypto on ramps for B2C and B2B users, stablecoin issuance and marketplace, and stablecoin payment processing and merchant gateway.
We’re delighted to welcome our new Vice President of Engineering: Karen C. Chang. With her track record in creating innovative platforms, scaling technology, and leading high-performing, diverse teams, we believe she is going to be an invaluable leader at SDF in 2021 and beyond.
