Monthly RoundUp
Hard to believe that the end of the year is finally upon us! We’ve been working hard to close the year out strong, topping off what’s been a foundational year for the Stellar network and SDF. From Meridian last month where we virtually gathered with thousands from our community (check out the recap blog to learn more about what we discussed) to our latest network news of Stellar’s first bank-issued stablecoin (Congrats, Bitbond and Bankhaus von der Heydt!), I continue to be so inspired by our progress and the many ways we are lighting up the Stellar map. I’ll be sharing some proof points in a 2020 recap later this month so stay tuned.
Until then, wherever you are in the world, wishing the best for you and your loved ones.

Key management and security have been on our minds a lot lately at SDF. There is always the potential for bad actors to appear when dealing with value of any sort, and blockchain is no exception. So how do we improve the users’ experience on Stellar while keeping their secret keys safe?
Recognizing the possibilities of blockchain technology, Cowrie and Tempo decided to build their solution on the Stellar network. On Stellar, it is possible to issue digital tokens that are backed 1:1 by actual fiat currency. Cowrie set up the NGNT token, pegged directly to the Nigerian naira, and Tempo issued the EURT. Together, they built a bi-directional NGNT-EURT corridor so that customers were able to start redeeming and trading these tokens right away.
At the Stellar Development Foundation, one use case we focus heavily on is B2B cross-border payments. On the Stellar network, Anchors use SEP-24 to offer the ability to make cost-effective cross border payments to its clients. One Anchor taking advantage of SEP-24 is ClickPesa, a fintech company that aims to simplify the way companies do business in East Africa and beyond.
